Woody Herman Shaw Jr. (December 24, 1944 – May 10, 1989); known as one of the 20th century's most important and influential jazz trumpeters and composers. Credited with revolutionizing the technical and harmonic language of modern jazz trumpet playing, and is regarded by many as one of the major trumpet innovators

Stafford & Jonathan will tackle some of Woody's well & lesser know compositions, and a few dedications.

Multi-Grammy nominated trombone/seashell, native Philadelphian. 30yrs resident of NYC, performed and/or recorded with Clark Terry, McCoy Tyner, Roy Hargrove, Amy Winehouse, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Lenny Kravitz, Orrin Evans, Steve Turre & Sanctified Shells, the Duke Ellington Orchestra for 21 years. Presently Stafford resides in Colorado

Multi-Grammy winning Trumpeter Jonathan Powell; from Largo, Florida, moved to New York City at the age of 19. Jonathan has performed/recorded with Eddie Palmieri, Arturo O'Farrill and the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Bob Mintzer, Q-Tip, Gary Thomas, Lenny White, Reggie Workman, and Snoop Dogg. Jonathan Powell and Mambo Jazz Party return to Colorado Springs in 1 show only. The group draws from Jonathan's 20-year freelance career as a trumpet player in the NYC salsa and Latin jazz scene. He was a regular member of Eddie Palmieri's groups for 10 years as well as recording and performing with Arturo O'Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, Miguel Zenon Big Band, Oscar Hernandez and Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Ricky Martin, and Tito Puente Jr among many more.

Also featured is Jeremy Powell, brother of Jonathan, a Saxophonist, visual artist and electronic music producer, based out of NYC where he has played and recorded with artists such as Arturo O'Farrill, Dan Pugach, Manuel Valera, and Eddie Palmieri among others.”

The group draws from Jonathan's 20-year freelance career as a trumpet player in the NYC salsa and latin jazz scene. Saxophonist Louis Fouché will be joining the group as a special guest from NYC. He is a longstanding member of the Late Night with Stephen Colbert Show Band as well as the Eddie Palmieri and Endea Owens groups.
